Q: iPhone camera roll video won't play

Some videos from a few months ago that I have saved to my camera roll won't play. What comes up is a little loading circle like it is trying to load the video but it never plays. I know for a fact that when the videos were saved, they worked. All of them are saved videos from snapchat, but some work and others don't. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem?

    are you selecting off of the phones on your phone and then pressing upload? if so where do you see the upload button? do I need to have a certain icloud setting on?

    When I do this it says 'There was an error while preparing to share. Please try again later.' HELP?!

    How long did you see the "Preparing" message for? It's been displayed on the iPhone screen for about ten minutes now.

    Maybe a minute or two. Try cancelling it and see if it works now. I only tried it with one video and now I'm able to watch all my videos albeit with a 10-15 second buffer for each video.

    How did you manage to not get an error saying, "There was an error while preparing to share. Please try again later."

    Because that is the error I keep getting...

    I enabled iCloud Photo Sharing, then went to my videos and selected two or three videos, then clicked the upload button that's next to the "Add to" button. Then clicked iCloud Photo Sharing and it gives me that error :/

    I did exactly what you are doing but I only selected one video to share. I have no idea why it's working for me. (I am on wifi and have 141 total videos.)

    I'm having the same problem, and I cannot find any solution anywhere.  There is no upload to icloud button, so I'm not sure what is going on.  If you ask me, I'm getting sick of Apple.  Time to move on!

    I believe I found a solution to this.

     

    Go to your camera roll, then go to the video that you want to play, at the bottom left press the arrow button, than hit duplicate, once duplicated you will have two of the same video, go to the new video and play it (it should work) and once I played the new video both the original and new video worked. Not sure if this will work for everyone but now all my videos are working. Hope this helped.

    This happened to me many times, I found out that many things like snapchat and Instagram files are very odd formats. For example, Instagram used to use their own file type called .inst . When i captured them with an app, my phone was only able to play them for 6-7 days after this. The phone only installs a temporary file reader from the app which is deleted in approximately a week. I would do one of two things;

    #1: Back the files up to your cloud storage and pull them down onto an iPad or Mac. They will have a temporary reader from the file type, just like the primary device, thus allowing you to repeatedly do this every time you want to view these files.

    #2: Find a third party file reader after you find the file type, you can do this by uploading to google drive and seeing the .file type or viewing your devices storage on your computer. Then locate an app that will read and/or play this file type.

    I had this problem too!

     

    What I did was - I went to edit the video, it will say its downloading the video and it will take a min or 2 but it does work. once its downloaded I cropped a bit off the end of the video that I didn't want, and saved it as a new clip, and it worked fine!

    try getting off your wifi and then back on  It worked for a couple a minutes for me.
