Q: just updated can not sms - imessage is off but phone refuses to send sms !!!!!!!

I hate imessage it synched all our phones and ipads and evryone was gettiing each others messages , so I never have imessage on ...

that happens when you share the same apple id for imessage, everyone should have their own apple id.

Add or remove your phone number to iMessage or FaceTime on your Mac, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

on all of the devices, settings - message - send&receive - remove or uncheck the apple id.
