Q: ipod classic is not seen in itunes

I am running the latest 12.3.3.17 version of itunes in Windows 10(not 7). I have an iPod classic which works OK, but suddenly my iPod is no longer seen in iTunes and running the diagnostic confirms that iTunes does not see it. The iPod is in fact present in my PC map, so there is a connection via the USB, so the fault is with iTunes itself it seems.

Having read previous articles there does not seem to be anything to help (unless I have missed something).

I did try to reset my iPod, but it will not reset and holding down the Menu and pause key silmultaneously does not bring up the reset logo screen as described. I have tried this several times.

All suggestions welcome

Windows 10

The Reset for an iPod classic is not Menu and Play/Pause.  Doing that may harm the click wheel (because that's pressing opposite sides of the click wheel at the same time).  As described here, the Reset is pressing and holding the Menu and Center buttons the same time

As a test, shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices.  You can leave standard USB keyboard/mouse connected, if used.  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter so that its not running on battery power.  Do a Reset on the iPod (as described in document).

Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect iPod to a direct USB port on the computer.  Is there any difference?
