Q: Notifications not appearing in Notification Center

i upgraded to an iPad Pro last year from an Air 2 and since then, notifications dont appear in my Notification Center. I will see the banners come in, but when I pull down Notification Center, nothing is there. If I go into settings and turn off notifications for an app I saw the banner for, then turn it back on, the notification will appear in notification center. This only works temporary. The next notification to come in for that app, will not be added.

  • This happens for all apps
  • i have tried turning off all notifications (one at a time) and turning them all back on, but nothing changes.
  • I have done a full reset
  • i have tried to restore from iTunes and then restore the backup
  • i have had this probown with every release of iOS since I got the Pro (I'm currently on 9.3.1)

The only thing I haven't done is do a restore and set up as a new iPad.  Any one have any other suggestions before I go this drastic?

iPad Pro, iOS 9.3.1

    Hello dranobob,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand you're not seeing notifications for some apps in the Notification Center.  While you've done a great job at troubleshooting this issue already, there's still a few things I'd like you to try, starting with making sure you have the option for "Show in Notification Center" enabled for the apps.

    Change Notifications settings

Some apps like email or social media apps send frequent notifications, which might affect battery life. If you have Show on Lock Screen turned on for notifications, this also might affect battery life.

To turn off or change notifications, go to Settings > Notifications and select the app. You can also sort your alerts by most recent, order them manually, or group them based on the app.

Use Notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    Take care.

I do have notifications on for most of my apps.  If I turn off notifications then back on for a specific app that I've seen a banner for, it will show up in notification center.

It would appear after some testing the problem happens if I try to open notification center while banners are coming in.  If I do, all notification center notifications stop working until I turn them each on and off again (one at a time for each app).

So the immediate workaround is just to make sure I don't open notification center until I'm sure all banners have stopped.  Hopefully someone will have a more permanent fix (as this isn't the case on my iphone 6).  If not, I'll just wait till iOS 10 and setup the device as new and hope that fixes it.
