Apr 14, 2016 8:36 AM in response to btristaniby Rich839,iMovie 10 has no feature for creating an arrow in a movie. Nor does iMovie 10 accept third party plug-ins that would enable you to do that. However, there is a workaround for creating an arrow on a still pic or video in iMovie. See Karston Schluter's article here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4021
As described in Karsten's article, you use the Preview app on your Mac to create an arrow on a transparency that you save as a .png file, and then bring it in to iMovie to be inserted as a picture in picture into your clip. You can then adjust the PIP to designate your player. Unfortunately, the arrow won't move with, or track, a moving figure in a video. You would have to create a freeze frame or still from the video that you could run for a few seconds within the video, and insert the arrow into the still to identify the player. Or, the arrow might work directly on the video if the player is, for example, moving toward the camera, or if the camera is following the player or a group of players, so that the highlighted player remains centered or in one place on the screen.
