I'm not aware of  nor can I find anything about an app called bin. Are you sure it's an app and not a .bin file? Search for .bin or bin and see where it's located.

Thanks Mike. I can't find the bin app or .bin file. Screen shot 2016-04-15 at 7.10.09 AM.png Here it is at the top of the page when I try to force quit.. But it doesn't exist in apps or spotlight search. Regards,

In Activity Monitor can you highlight that process, then click the info button and post a screenshot of the information in that?

Thanks Duane, appreciated. I am running Activity Monitor version 10.6. I can see no 'info button.' Peculiarly, 'bin app' on force quit will just reopen. I can see changes in the Activity monitor on force quit yet I don't know how to 'highlight that process.' Hope I'm on the right track.

What version of OS X are you running?

To highlight a process in Activity Monitor all you have to do is click on it.

The free space on your disk drive is very low at 9 GB. You need to backup everything and then start either deleting or moving enough of your files to free up at least three time that much space.

You have adware installed which needs to be removed. Try downloading and installing https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/mac/ to remove it.

It appears your Google software is incorrectly installed because it is crashing. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it again.

Anyone any idea how to rid my computer of Bin application. Mysterious application that opens by itself and will not close unless force quit. Each time I shut down, I need to force quit the Bin application twice, only then will the computer close. Thanks in advance.

If I can add my two cents: There should be a hidden directory in the root called bin which contains a lot of binary files. Try moving this 'app' of yours to the root. Maybe you moved it by accident to the Applications folder. I think Mike was on the right track here.

All the advice given by Allan Eckert seems to be spot-on.
