Apr 16, 2016 6:52 AM in response to Lawrence Finchby Smy1220,★HelpfulApparently you sir are wrong! (quite often I might add)
As it is stated in that document from Apple you linked to (obviously without reading it fully), just because it is not on the list does not mean it is not compatible! "If you don't see your printer or server listed, check with the printer manufacturer for more information."
"The information below is provided by each manufacturer and is updated once a month by Apple. You can use the Find feature of your web browser (usually Command-F) to search for a specific device in this list. If you don't see your printer or server listed, check with the printer manufacturer for more information."
The printer is certainly compatible with AirPrint but a firmware update is necessary as HP has stated.

Apr 16, 2016 5:44 AM in response to Maryvy44by Smy1220,This has been an issues with some routers not passing Bonjour, have you tried the printer in Ad-hoc mode and directly connecting it to the ipad? this will eliminate the router as an issue.

Apr 16, 2016 7:00 AM in response to Smy1220by Maryvy44,I Am SO grateful for your reply! I'll work on it today. I can't afford another printer- would asking Comcast for another router also fix the problem? Also, not sure how to connect my iPad directly to printer? I was ready to divorce Apple.

Apr 16, 2016 7:14 AM in response to Maryvy44by Smy1220,Could be the built in Comcast firewall have seen it do flaky things even internally. You will have to go through the settings on the printer(I can't know every printer sorry). In the Wi-Fi setup there should be a mode to select and an option should be ad-hoc, once in ad-hoc mode you will see a new wifi connection show up on ipad and be able to join to it. This will create a direct connection to the printer. The other things you may want to look at are the HP support forums, also What kind of computer do you have? Windows? Mac? If windows you can download the software updater and make sure your printer has the newest firmware on it that may be causing issues.
HP Support forum: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/
P.S. if you set the printer to factory defaults (also in settings) this printer is in ad-hoc mode.

Apr 16, 2016 9:10 PM in response to Smy1220by Maryvy44,GGreetings- I spent 2 3/4 hours on line with an Apple Tech (my hero) and the issue identified was the upgrade. SO, we wiped the iPad, reinstalled and brought up the current upgrade to iTunes on my Levono Laptop. It was quite a process and my tiny brain was almost fried BUT I can now print from my iPad - I must say, I HATE upgrades! Oh, and I got all my Stanford Band music back too.
