Q: How can I delete ( not hide)  movies on my iTunes to make more room for storage?

I have tried everything and read lots of sites.  How do I totally delete movies and tv shows that have been downloaded to my macbook?  I get something that asks me if I want to hide the purchase and have no choice to delete.  I need the storage room.

Delete music, movies, apps, and other content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

In iTunes highlight the item and press the delete key.  If you want the file gone from your drive make sure you tell it to delete the file.

"Hide" isn't a term used for media actually present on the computer.  I have never heard of iTunes being able to "hide" an item on the computer. Are you absolutely positive these are not items in iCloud?  Is there an iCloud icon next to them?

Open iTunes, right click on the movie, and select delete. You will be given a prompt asking if you want to remove the file from your library but keep the file, or move the file to the trash. You will also be asked if you would like to hide the movie. Choose the option to move the file to the trash, and then empty the trash can. If you do not hide the movie after deleting the file, you will still see the cover for the movie in your library; this is not a copy of the physical file, but a place holder meant to allow you to redownload the movie from iCloud. If you don't want the cover to remain as a place holder, you can right click on the cover and select Hide. Note, that items you hide will have to be unhidden before you may download them again.

If you see the term "hide" you're in the iTunes Store tab and looking at your purchases. Switch to Movies first.
