Q: My iPod classic is very old. I can't put new movies on it. How can I do this?

My iPod was bought many years ago. I have had the chance to get digital movies, but none of them can be placed on the iPod. It's saying it can't be placed on this version of the iPod. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?

If the movies are in HD (high definition), their screen resolution is too high for iPods (except iPod touch).  If this is the problem, you may be able to convert them or download a compatible version from the iTunes Store.

I looked at that link and was lost.

I looked at my iPod and got the serial and model....last 4 of serial is K9ZU and model is MV297LL. It's an iPod Classic with 160GB I believe. I will attempt to convert the movies and see if that works. Although I'm not sure how to do that.

A 160GB IPod classic is not THAT old...

If the movies were added from an external source, you can use that conversion command.  If the movies are purchased from the iTunes Store, they have DRM (copy protection) so the conversion command is disabled.  But you may be able to download a version that is "SD" (at no additional cost).

It worked! I followed the directions to download the movies in SD and they are now on my iPod.

    Thanks!
