Q: Problem with ipad connecting to internet and charging

I have an update ready to install. Last night I went to do that - could not connect to the internet - I could not move the slider that turns on the internet in settings.

The update had downloaded already but the install line was not responsive. I saw the battery was low and plugged it in - it would not accept a charge a charge. (12 hours later - still at 40%)

I can access other programs ie Reader or solitaire and they work but still no internet.

Can anyone help?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Hi Edmund,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

It looks like your iPad doesn't connect to the internet after downloading (but not installing) the iOS update. If you didn't already, I'd suggest restarting (or force restarting) your iPad--Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If your iPad still doesn't connect to the internet normally after it restarts, you can use the troubleshooting steps outlined in If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Thanks for your reply. Fortunately my problem solved itself . This morning the ipad showed no battery life. I tried plugging it in and it took a charge - then was able to connect the internet and install the download. I think it must have died completely and then did a restart itself- so I think your advice would have worked as well. Thanks.
