Q: How do network accounts with parental controls configured interact with local parental control settings?

I have configured parental controls for my kid's accounts on our home server.  They can use any of our home computers, which is really nice, but they primarily use one in particular.

If I enable Parental Controls in System Preferences how will that interfere with the Parental Control settings from Profile Manager?  Will it pick them up?  Will it overwrite them?  Will it enable the kids to see how much time remains?

I'd really like to know at least something before I go experimenting... my kids are on the younger side and they tend to complain if I have to kick them off the computer.  It's easier to just let the machine do it and insist that everybody gets the same amount of time (which is true).

I have only one work around.  This is to re-enter the network account as a local account.  It breaks the network account so you have to log in as the user and say "ok" to a lot of warnings and issues.  I think this is a major problem with Mac's.  I really don't understand why you cannot select a network account and add parental controls.  To me this is very dumb.  I only think this will be more and more of an issue as more families attempt to simplify the management of technology with their children.  We too have a lot of macs and use the server as a way to have a single account; however, because we cannot use parental controls with the networked accounts we are forced to setup local accounts on all the devices.... which defeats the purpose of having a server to begin with.

This is wrt to the student deployment program, maybe you can draw something from there.

It could be beneficial to read the book 'Control and Collaboration' from Reid Bondonis (iBook) and or visit http://krypted.com/guides/el-capitan-server/ where I sometimes find solid ideas as well.
