Q: Projects not showing pictures

Projects view shows that there are pictures in them, lists the number of photos, photos show if I scroll across the project (as if to choose a key photo - and even lets me choose a key photo!), so all normal - until I click on the project.

I have tried closing and reopening Aperture, have checked the filters on a sample of projects (showing all) but nothing is working. All the photos are still in Aperture as I can see them in full if I click on Photos folder under Library. But when I click on a project and open it up there are no photos in there. Likewise if I scroll down to any of the projects as they are listed, still nothing. Driving me crazy! I am sure (hoping!) it is something silly/ easy to fix. I have not tried doing Aperture repair yet (and will need to back up before I do that).

I am running OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.5 and am on a MacBook Pro. Aperture version 3.6.

All help and advice gratefully received! :-)

Thanks so much in advance.

Have you checked the filters on the project and in the full library view? You can have filters on any level in a nested hierarchie of folders and projects.

    Is the "rejected" album emprty?

Does it happen for all projects or only a few projects?

Before you repair the library, have a look at Frank Caggiano's user tip:   Images not appearing in browser, search filter is cleared

Hi leonie, thanks so much for your reply! It happens will all projects... I have looked at the filterers and made sure it says 'showing all' on whichever project I go into.

The rejected album shows 8 pictures in there, but again, when I click on it I cannot see the images it contains, even if I click on the filter to show rejected images.

I also tried Frank Caggiono's tip but still nothing :-(

Then check, if you can see the photos in your projects, if you open a different Aperture library.  Does Aperture work at all on a new library?  You can crete a new library from the File menu:   File > Switch to Library > Other/New.

If Aperture is working well on a Test library, make a backup copy of your current library and and try the Aperture library First Aid Tools: Repair or rebel, if necessary.

If a new library also does not work, remove Aperture's preferences as described here:   https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201289
