Q: I cannot see a second screen option on display to connect to

I am trying to connect a second screen to my iMac however when I try and turn the 2nd screen on I get a message ` no signal detected'.

I have gone into display but there does not seem to show the facility to connect another screen.

I would appreciate any advice. Thank you

What type of cable are you using to connect it.

I am using a Mini Displayport to VGA adapter from apple. I failed to advise that my iMac was purchased in November 2007 so it is most likely considered old by many now.

The screen is a Benq

If you have a Mid 2007 iMac, then it has a Mini DVI output and you have a Mini DVI to VGA adapter.

1. I would try a different VGA cable.

2. Then I would try a different Mini DVI to VGA adapter.
