Q: There is no lock/unlock option in setting/general in my new iPad pro 9.7. How to get it?

My new Ipad pro 9.7 has no "lock/unlock" option in setting/ general  of the uptodate iOS 9.3.1.

How can I fix it?

Do you have a smart-cover on your iPad ?

It is smart-cover for iPad Air, which is doing well with my iPad air. Unfortunately, we haven't got the smart cover for iPad pro 9.7, and I haven't test it yet.

Go to settings touch ID & passcode.

Or if you want to lock in portrait mode swipe up control panel from bottom of screen see padlock .

    Cheers

Thank you all. I have got the solution.  The iPad pro matches only smart cover or keyboard spicific to iPad Pro, everything work properly when I attached the smart keyboard to it.  It does not work with previous smart cover.

Did you got that answer from Apple? It does indeed seem that old covers don't work with the iPad Pro for turning on and off. However, I understood it was caused by proximity. Just got a Pro 9.7" and not being able to use my Air 2 cover is quite annoying.

Sorry for the double post but I have been reading about it and indeed, old cases won't work with iPad Pro because mainly the smart connector, nothing to do with proximity.

Any iPad Air 2 case will fit in perfectly because height and width are exactly the same, however, there are several new elements like the back flashlight and microphone, the four speakers (bottom ones in new locations) and the left dots for the smart connector that will require a new cover to work properly. Anyway, the previous cases will protect the iPad Pro 9.7 just fine.

    Planned obsolescence as usual.
