Q: iPod Nano 16GB keeps resetting

Hi!

Weird things are happening.

I have an iPod Nano 16GB that works perfectly. I use iTunes on my regular computer and it had never been a problem.

Today iTunes told me my iPod had to reset itself, and all my music apparently disappeared. I managed to get it back on my computer with a special software.

I connected my iPod and tried to put back all the music, but it said it was full, even if it's EMPTY ("Other" is shown as full in the toolbar).

My guess is that all the music files are still on the iPod but unavailable when i want to listen to them, and iPod shows itself empty...

Then I ejected my iPod and it RESET itself AGAIN.

It has never done it before on that computer... I DON'T GET IT!

Thanks for your help

The iPod may have data corruption.  Try doing a Restore on the iPod using iTunes. This erases the iPod, reinstalls its software, and sets it to default settings.

Correct! Now the iPod is empty for real. I could load some music back in.
But every time I connect it it says "Your iPod needs to be restored in order to be used with iTunes", and it all goes back to the first point (music deleted, have to restore it from iTunes, etc etc etc).

Is there a way to get rid of a "data corruption"? Cause right now the only solution is to put all my music on the iPod and then never ever connect it again, and it's ******** hahaha

    Thanksssss

After the Restore, the iPod is set (by default) to use the Manually manage music [and videos] and Enable disk use settings (shown on the iPod's Summary settings screen in iTunes).  That means you need to Eject the iPod in iTunes before physically disconnecting it.  The Eject button is next to iPod's name in iTunes (it looks like a triangle with a line below it).  If you do not Eject before disconnecting, the iPod's storage can become corrupted (and the next time you connect it, iTunes asks for it a Restore again.)

NOTE:  If the iPod is set to use automatic syncing (the Sync Music setting is enabled), you do not need to Eject iPod before disconnecting.

If you are properly ejecting the iPod before disconnecting (or you use automatic syncing), as a test, shut down the computer and disconnect all USB devices.  You can leave standard USB keyboard and mouse connected, if used.  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter so that it's not running on battery power.  Do this to Reset (restart) the iPod

Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect iPod to a direct USB port on the computer, by itself.  Try doing another Restore, load some music manually, Eject iPod, disconnect, and then reconnect.  Is there any difference?
