Q: Bootcamp Windows 10 install

Greetings,

I have a new late 2015 5k 27in imac.  Trying to install Windows 10 via bootcamp.  I bought a copy of windows 10 home full version usb.

then followed the directions on Use Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support and downloaded the ISO file from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

leaving the ISO file on my hard drive I started bootcamp.  Everything seems to install fine after updating drivers.  And the Imac restarts.  Windows setup opens, I pick english and enter my product key when asked.  This is where I run into the problem.  The next dialog show an option to upgrade ( which it wont do because this is my first windows installation, the other option is the Advanced and wants me to select a hard drive for install but then says no partition have the correct format. and it tells me to fix the problem??  I did follow the link to fix/reset PC, but that did work either.

Not sure what to try next... thoughts???

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Use BC Assistant, remove the current W10 installation. re-start the W10 installation and disconnect all network connections physically before you choose the destination partition for W10.

Please also see Windows 10 crashing, but not sure why.

Thanks for the quick response.  I also read through the linked thread.  Not sure im dealing with quite the same issue of windows crashing.  After I enter my key I am asked to pick a partition.  I pick BOOTCAMP, it says not formated, so I hit format, now drive is listed untitled and it says the drive does not contain the right drivers.  Is this when I install the windows drivers?  all the info reads like you would do this after windows is installed.

There are no drivers on the Untitled partition since Windows is not installed yet. The drivers need to come from the OSXRESERVED partition built by BC Assistant. If the error message is about missing CD/DVD drivers, it typically indicates block corruption of the source ISO.

Can you post the name of the W10 ISO file and the MD5sum of the ISO file?

The MD5sum is correct. I have the same value.

    openssl md5 Win10_1511_1_English_x64.iso

    MD5(Win10_1511_1_English_x64.iso)= a4fde74732557d75ffc5354d0271832e

Do you have a screen shot of the error message or the exact text of the error?

The is where Im at.  I reset the nvram.  Was able to install windows 10. install bootcamp drivers, created a restore point, set automatic updates off, set wifi to metered.

Are there any other settings to change to keep from having issues?  What updates should i be looking out for?

I am just using windows for games, maybe VR.  At the moment just "Elite Dangerous"

The most problematic updates are Driver updates. Please also see http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/take-back-control-driver-updates-windows-10/ .
