Q: My computer has been locking up.

I have OS X El Capitan v10.11.4 Update installed, a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 13 processor, a 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, and 342.56 out of 498.88 GB of storage. My computer has been locking up on the internet; especially on Facebook. I have used utilities to repair files since I deleted a lot of old files, but nothing is showing up.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

    What utilities?

The vast majority of the so called "repair" utilities cause far more damage then good.

Could you please provide more details on what you mean when you say that the internet is locking up?

Thanks for your reply Allan. In my utilities folder there is a disk utility, and within that I check first aid. It has not found anything in need of repair.

When my computer locks up, it does not respond. I have to reboot it, then it goes back to the internet page that I was on. I am able to proceed after that.

Have you tried force quitting Safari and then restarting with the Shift key depressed?

No, the only way I am able to restart my computer after it locks up is to turn the power button off and back on.

He wasn't talking about restarting your computer, he was talking about restarting Safari.

I thought by stating force quitting Safari, I was making that obvious. Oh well.

Try running this program and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read.
