Q: Use iMac 21.5 as Desktop Monitor

Hello There , I just purchased the new 21.5 inch 1080p iMac and a Belkin HDMI to DisplayPort Adaptor.

I also wanted to use the iMac as a Screen for my Second Desktop ( Has a Geforce 9800 GTX on it ) but I couldnt figure it out yet ! Tried hooking up the iMac directly via Thunderbolt slot into the Desktop's HDMI but nothing happens when I click Cmd 2 ( Already checked F1 f2 keys on Keyboard preferences)

So...What am I doing wrong ?

Target Display Mode is Mac to Mac only Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support
HDMI to Mac will not work.

So I can't use the iMac as a Screen to my Desktop AT ALL ?
I'm pretty sure the attendant said so when I asked before purchasing it.
