Q: Migrating Calendar to iCloud, Stuck on "Moving Calendars to Server Account"

Hi all,

Have just upgraded to a newer model of a Macbook with El Capitan and am trying to migrate my Calendar events from my older Macbook Pro running OS X Yosemite. I have not used iCloud for Calendar before but considered it the easiest method of migration, so on my older computer I simply connected my calendar to iCloud and it gave the message "moving calendars to server account" when I next opened the Calendar application.

The message has remained there for two days (yes I've been that patient) but progress has been minimal. On my new computer, also linked to iCloud, it has recognised that all the calendar categories on my computer are on iCloud, however only a handful of them are yet to sync the actual events, and the already stale progress seems to have plateaued.

Other suggestions have involved unlinking the iCloud account on the computer with the issue, however I don't believe I can afford this as last time I did similarly it wiped all the calendar events. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
