Welcome to the Support Communities! I understand you were able to print wirelessly from your MacBook Air to your Epson WF-2540 in the past, but not currently. Can you think of anything that has changed? Your profile indicates you are running OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2). Is that accurate?
I checked our compatible printers document to see if the Epson WF2540 is listed.
Printer and scanner software available for download for your Mac
EPSON WF-2540 Series 9.04 P S F P = Print S = Scan F = Fax
Since it is listed, you shouldn't need to install the Epson software. Try these steps:
- Uninstall the Epson software
- Delete the Printer
- Turn the printer and the computer off.
- Restart the printer.
- Restart the computer.
- Reinstall the printer with a USB cable using the software on the Mac.
- If the printer works with the USB cable, now try setting up the wireless again. But first, restart your modem and your printer to re-establish a connection to your wireless network.
If the issue persists, reset the printing system on your Mac.
Hope that helps ...

Ping printer: If you have the printers IP address open Terminal (Applications/Utilities) and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure.
