Try the following steps, which may help to address issues at or before the "verifying" stage.
However, do not interrupt your iPhone or watch if the process has already reached the "installing" stage, as reported by the Watch app.
- On your iPhone, close the Watch app and all other open apps:
- Double-click the Home button, then swipe upwards on each app preview.
- Remove your watch from the charger and restart both devices:
- Turn both off together, then restart your iPhone first;
- To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;
- To turn it back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
- Replace your watch on the charger, keep your iPhone connected to power and try updating again by following the instructions here:
- On your iPhone, close the Watch app and all other open apps:

Apple WatchIn future, when updating the software on your watch, be sure to follow all of Apple's instructions, which presently include:
- "Make sure your Apple Watch has at least a 50 percent charge".
