Q: How do I recharge my new iPhone 6s which arrived yesterday?

My new iPhone 6s arrived yesterday.  I have the cords included with the phone, but I can't find a place to put the small end into the iPhone.  I have my iPhone in an Otterbox Defender case, but I don't think any of the holes are covered up.  None of the ends of the supplied cord will fit into any of the holes I can see.  I also have an Apple AirPort Express and a Lightning Dock. My phone is dying, and I don't know how to revive it without the correct cord. RRR

Plug it into the bottom middle flat looking port.

The only flat looking port looks like it is larger than a USB sized hole.  The large end of my supplied cord is plugged into the part that I plug into the electric wall socket.  The only end left has a very tiny plug.  This little tiny plug end of the supplied cord will fit in that large port?

The iPhone should have come with 2 things. a USB to Lightning cable:

    Lightning

    and a 5watt wall charger

    charger

The iPhone itself must have a small port at the bottom where you can connect the Lightning cable portion, and the other side to the 5watt charger:

Yes, the small flat connector will fit into the port on the bottom of the iPhone.

I suggest a read of the user guide for future reference.

    That is the correct way.

Yes, try it. Bottom middle of phone.

Thanks for the pictures.  Due to my limited vision and the Otterbox Defender case, I did not see the small port for the cord.  Do you know about the Lightning Dock?

I also purchased a Lightning Dock, but when the Otterbox case is on the iPhone, I can't make it fit on the Lightning Dock.  Is the Lightning Dock designed to be only used when the iPhone is not in any protective case?

The Otterbox cases are generally quite thick and may indeed prevent it from correctly plugging into the dock.

Depending on thickness other cases may or may not work with the dock.

From personal experience, Apple's own leather and vinyl cases work fine with the dock. but of course they are nowhere near as protective as the Otterbox.

I'm worried about dropping my phone, and I was afraid the the Apple leather case might be too slippery for my hands.  I also Purchased the AirPort Express.  Do you know what those two ports (that look like either phone jacks for a landline, or for an ethernet cable) are supposed to connect to? Yes those are ethernet ports. Wan and Lan. What they are connected to if anything will depend on how you plan on setting it up.

The Wan port may connect to your ISP's internet modem / router if you plan on using it for wireless internet access.

The Lan port may be connected to say a network printer, or an ethernet switch to provide more wired ports.

If the Express is meant to extend an AirPort Extreme's wifi signal, then probably neither port will be connected to anything.

In my defense, I did attempt to locate information about where to put the cords online, but I was unable to locate any information.  I really do appreciate the pictures as they are very useful to my limited vision problems.  Thanks for helping with something so stupid as not being able to figure out how to recharge my Apple device.  I have always been able to figure this out in the past.  I don't know what's wrong with me today.  I will admit this new phone has me rattled.  It's my first iPhone, and I am intimidated by it personally.  I know how to make an AS400 Main Frame Computer behave, but a little iPhone 6s has me cowering in the corner  Again, really appreciate the helpfulness of the community.

I had totally forgotten about the AirPort Express's ability to extend my wifi signal.  That was why I purchased that item.  Everything in my house uses wifi except the Apple TV,

I plugged the iPhone into the AirPort Express.  Now the Express is hot, and instead of the battery level increasing after about 60 minutes, the battery level has decreased by 2%. There is a yellow light blinking on the AirPort Express.  Does this mean something is wrong?

The airport express is not designed to charge the iPhone. Plug the iPhone into its own wall charger to charge.

The yellow light means there's an issue that requires user assistance.  Probably because its not set up yet.

So Sorry, My apologies.  I found the Setup Guide. I have plugged my phone into the wall charger.  I'm having an issue with the iMac telling me that the Express cannot access the internet.  I have plugged my Ethernet cable (cat 5) into the WAN port of the Express as requested, but although that is what the utility is asking me to do, it still says waiting... Is my next step to contact Apple?  I have contacted my internet service provider, and they inform me that the port from the router is the appropriate one to be connected to.  It is the same port that I used to use when I connected my computer directly to the router.
