Apr 20, 2016 7:14 AM in response to fromsouthby MirandaShade,I"m sorry. I can't believe how unclear this issue is and can't imagine I'm the only one who has had this happen.
IiPhone was working properly as of purchase o 4/6/16. Had text conversation on 4/17/16. Immediately went to computer (without plugging in iPhone) to make sure text conversation downloaded to message app on computer-(it did). Noticed on 4/19/16 that I was unable to manually backup to iCloud Because of a glitch with original restore of iPhone from 4/6/16 purchase in store. Took iPhone to store-told him the situation. He never said I had to sync with iTunes. iPhone was restored in the store on 4/19/16 and he told me to just plug it back into the computer and I can get the texts back.
I NEVER SYNCED THE PHONE TO ITUNES SINCE OBTAINING ON 4:6:16. But, I can see the text conversation on my message app on the comouter. I plugged in and backed up the iPhone to the computer yesterday after the in store restore and the texts are still not there. Do I need to do a restore from iTunes too?

Apr 20, 2016 10:35 AM in response to MirandaShadeby fromsouth,You do not have to apologize, imessage conversation is either will sync by itself which didn't happen in your case or you need to restore from the backup, created at the time when and where that conversation existed. Instructions above.

Apr 20, 2016 1:35 PM in response to fromsouthby MirandaShade,I really appreciate your help. I'm still confused. Will the iTunes restore capture the texts from 4/17 if the phone was never synced with iTunes since I obtained it on 4/6/16? I would just restore again, but so far I've lost pictures, voice mails, texts, had to reset all my emails accounts, and app settings. It may not seem like much, but to this person who works in a hospital and helps people to make informed decisions about their healthcare, I haven't much assistance with understanding the ramifications of taking certain actions with the phone. Thanks!

Apr 20, 2016 3:35 PM in response to MirandaShadeby fromsouth,★HelpfulNo worries, I am sure if I had a health concern you would also try to help. As far as restore from backup - in the way you described it would not work. You really need to restore from backup where those messages were present. It may be icloud backup that you need to use and not itunes. You did mention that you could not backup to icloud on 4.19, but maybe it did it before April 19, but after April 6? If not then you probably out of luck, since sync with itunes does not save imessages as far as I know. I believe at that point Apple store employee meant to restore from itunes backup, cause assumption if icloud backup does not work and you really need to backup before going to Apple store (to anyone reading that -it is necessity to backup before Apple store appointments) - you backed up to computer before you went..

Apr 20, 2016 3:37 PM in response to fromsouthby MirandaShade,Thanks again for the help. Yeah, I'm really frustrated at this point because I probably should have taken the phone home before he restored. I just don't understand how the texts got on my computer without the phone being connected (I assuming iCloud) and if that is so, why I can't recapture them now through my iCloud account.

Apr 20, 2016 6:24 PM in response to MirandaShadeby fromsouth,There are two ways messages transfer from phone to mac.
1 iMessage.

2. Continuity.

Look at those articles and if one of them makes you think it can help you come back and ask.
