Q: Disc is too slow or system overload: Apple Support article no help

My project lives on a 1TB partition on a 4TB G-Drive Pro connected to my iMac via Thunderbolt

My CPU usage monitor doesn't shout anything obvious,

yet playback stalls and I get "Disc is too slow or system overload" alert.

This never happened with my cheesegrater with internal drives.

This is not what the help article that got me here advises.

Logic Pro X: System Overload messages - Apple Support

I have been separately advised to copy my Logic Project to my iMac fusion drive and work on there.

I have one of the latest macs, an expensive THB drive, yet Logic can't perform transparently.

How can this be?

Any advice would be welcome

pete

What computer do you have (CPU type, spec, speed and amount of ram)

What OS are you running, please be specific with version number.

What version of Logic, again, please be specific with version number.

Hi Octopi - I thought that when I answered all the sign-in questions about my gear that that would be appended, which includes all the data you require.

How do I do that in future?

    Here it is:

    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)

Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i5

    24GB RAM

    OS 10.10.5

    Logic Pro X 10.2.2
