Macs are picky about memory and just matching the specs is not sufficient. You have to get the memory from a place like OWC/MacSales or Crucial that guarantee it will work with your Mac.
If you reinstall the original memory does it still work OK?

As Illaas has already alluded, Macs are picky about what you use. Your symptom is indicative of one module not working. It is also possible that you inadvertently touched the edges of one of the modules. Remove the two modules and clean the edges with a rubber to wipe of any microscopic residue. Install the module immediately after the cleaning, making sure that it is properly seated. Now do the other one, once again ensuring that it is seated properly. Test. If no go, put the original back and test.
