Yep. In fact Apple have made it even clearer that they are no longer supporting QuickTime for Windows on its download page: Download QuickTime 7.7.9 for Windows

Important: QuickTime 7 for Windows is no longer supported by Apple. New versions of Windows since 2009 have included support for the key media formats, such as H.264 and AAC, that QuickTime 7 enabled. All current Windows web browsers support video without the need for browser plug-ins. If you no longer need QuickTime 7 on your PC, follow the instructions for uninstalling QuickTime 7 for Windows.

It is a shame that first sentence isn't also on the uninstall page.

If you absolutely must run QuickTime for some internal project then installing 7.7.9 should disable any web plugins installed with previous versions so would be better than doing nothing. Also: About the security content of QuickTime 7.7.9 - Apple Support

Nope, you have to make an effort to find QuickTime these days. There must be relatively few websites proclaiming it has to be installed to view content, and those that do exist will no doubt be unloved by their original owners who've probably forgotten all about them.

Thanks, I've been meaning to update the user tip, but somehow I've managed to be busier than usual over the last few days and I've managed to put it off.
