Q: Would it be wise to install a 2nd OS onto my machine?

Hello everyone,

I am a software engineer student living in New Zealand. Often times, I find myself needing to compile my code on Windows as several libraries are not available on OS X. Therefore, I would be forced to go to my college and use the computer labs every time I have to compile programs (my college isn't very close to where I live). I have been contemplating whether I should install Microsoft Windows 10 using Bootcamp however I would really like to know from you guys if it is safe and will not cause any performance hit or any of the like to my machine. I would also like to know if it is possible to uninstall Windows whenever I desire after installing it.

I suggest you consider using Virtual Machine (VM) emulation. This would let you run both OS X and Windows concurrently. Download a trial of Parallels Desktop for Mac. Parallels can run VMs for many different operating systems including Linux, Unix, and Windows. This is an excellent solution for anyone who only needs to use Windows occasionally.
