Q: Screen not responding. Apps not opening.

Hello,

I have recently purchased an iphone 6s 64gb (2 weeks ago) currently running IOS 9.3.1. it seems that my phones screen sometimes does not respond (except form the swipe down or up screen) i tap to open apps and nothing happens, you can check the vid i posted do get a better idea. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoiyAodCJsc ) . Also sometimes after opening an app a white screen will appear and nothing on from there. Apps would sometime crash on their own as well.

I have already taken my phone for repair where i purchased it form since it has a 1 year warranty and they didnt find anything and just reset and reinstalled iOS completely. But the problem persists.

Can it be a IOS 9.3.1 glitch? Should i wait for the next iOS update?  Should i take my phone back for repair demanding they change my phone completely since it will be the 2nd time it happens?

Pls help me buying a new phone and having it not working properly after 2 weeks can be quite nerve racking.!!!!

This is absolutely not "normal" behavior. I have not heard of others with iOS 9.3.1 being affected by this.

Yes, bring it back to be repaired or replaced (it's unlikely you'll get a new one).

The warranty is actually by Apple. You can take it to an Apple Store to be evaluated, or call them.

This troubleshooting article from Apple about an unresponsive touchscreen has a section that covers the 3D Touch feature of the iPhone 6s or later. Check you settings for 3D touch to make sure the sensitivity option is set to a level that provides a better response: If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch - Apple Support

Thank you for your reply, I brought the phone to thecarrier from wich bought it from to get it checked again and hoping replaced with a new device. Unfortunately we do not have Apple stores in Greece only the phone carriers that are authorized resellers. I found a support phone number that i can call from Greece to try and get extra help form Apple hoping they can shed some light on this issue.

Thank you for your answer. It doesn't seem that the issue is coming form 3d touch the screens just lags sometimes or wouldn't let me tart any apps and then after clicking the home button everything is fine again. Could it be because i have restored my backup form an iphone 4s to the 6s? Like specifically the Plus 500 app would sometime not open and show a white screen after tapping on it but not other apps. Could it be that something form my old iphone 4s that was transferred to my new 6s is causing those issues??

Individual apps, even if outdated, generally should have no effect on the overall operation of the phone. To make sure, log into the App Store and check if you need to update any of the installed apps.

Having seen your video, I don't understand how they could possibly claim there's nothing wrong. Yes, you need to contact Apple directly and complain about the service you're receiving from the carrier. Also, look for an authorized (this is very important) Apple iPhone service provider. Their technical abilities are likely to be much higher than those ar a carrier.

Thank you so much for your answer.!! I will contact Apple directly first thing tomorrow and try and find an authorized Apple iphone service provider as well.

I feel very desperate though since the issues never occurs when i am at my carriers shop and since they have to ship my phone to their service (because of my 1 year warranty) center with only a brief written description of the problem i dont know if their "technician" can identify and fix the problem.

Just to get the whole story out. I went to my carriers first day after having bought my phone with issues (apps always updating even though no update was needed. Literally the same apps would update themselves for 15 min without stopping, phone rebooted twice on me and other small issues) but they didn't want to change my phone(in Greece we have 3 days from the date of purchase to get it replaced if any issues occur) since none of those problems occurred in front of them while i was at the store so now here i am with a 900 eur phone wich im sure needs replacement but no one seems to take the issues seriously enough.

    Goodmorning.

A little update regarding my phone. I just received it from the service center of my phone carrier and they gave me a new phone. I've restored everything from my previous 4s and when i started using the Plus500 app again bam the same issues started happening again(the app itself would turn a white screen and not load, apps wouldn't start like on the youtube video i posted), wich let me to believe that the problem comes for the Plus500 app. I'v just deleted it and hoping the problems will not surface again.

If so i have contacted Apple and they gave me their official service provider contact info here in Greece. If needed i will pay them a visit but really crossing my fingers i will not need to...

I managed to record it again just so we can see that it doesn't appear to be a screen problem or 3d touch

Try setting the phone up as a brand new device to see what happens:

    1.     Go to Settings>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings

    2.     When you set the phone up, do NOT set it up from your backup

    3.     Download a few apps (but not the Plus 500) and see how things are working

    4.     Download the Plus 500 app to see if the problem returns

    5.     If it does, then it's the app, and you should remove it from your device altogether

    6.     If it does not, then you can try erasing and setting up again, but this time set it up from your backup

    7.     If the problem returns, it's corrupted data in your backup, and you will need to set your device up from scratch

    8.     If it does not, then see if you continue to be OK
