Q: iPod Touch 4g won't charge correctly on Monster Dock

Hi!

I've had a 32 GB iPod Touch 4G for two years now, closer to 3. I bought a Monster Tron Dock about the same time.

I also have the Disney Tron app installed, as I have from the beginning. I've been using the app and dock with the Touch as an alarm clock steadily for the last 2 years at least.

Within the last few months, the iPod will charge up to full battery on the dock, then lose charge, then charge all the way up, beep and light up, darken, lose charge, charge all the way up, beep and light up... repeat.  Not easy to sleep through that.

Normal USB charging works fine.

I contacted Monster, but Monster doesn't support the dock any more.

The Touch is currently using iOS 6.1.6. After reading about a lot of issues with 6.1.x,I'd like to back the iOS down to 6.0 or lower. Is that possible?

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6.1.6

    Try:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Reset the dock

    - Inspect the dock connector on the dock for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic

    - Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

    - Restore from backup. See:

Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup - Apple Support

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

    - If still problem that means the dock is defective.
