Q: missing create windows 7 install usb

This boot camp doesn't work at all.

I have two menu options -

1. Install windows 7

2. download drivers

After doing all this of course at the end of the download there is an error - "installer disc cannot be found"

I have tried putting the ISO on the USB with the downloaded drivers - that doesn't work.

after 1, 2 above I am presented with the home screen, and I only get the error that the installer disc cannot be found.

Huge fail on apples part. Thats a bad apple.

Also missing option to create a boot disc... um, no-one uses CD drives anymore.

A:

The easiest way that has worked for me on ElCapitan is to right-click on the ISO, choose Burn from the pop-up menu, expand the dialog, check burn rate, enable verification and burn. I have not produced a 'coffee coaster' for a long time.

Your Mac has a built-in Optical drive. Models prior to 2013 (2012 models support both USB and DVD) requires a physical DVD. You can download a W7 ISO from Microsoft - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 - and burn it to a DVD.

Use Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support and https://help.apple.com/bootcamp/mac/5.0/help/#/bcmp173b3bf2 to install W7.

No this doesn't work at all. The ISO image is never found and you can't burn it to a DVD without a huge amount of problems. the mac compatible with windows is a bunch of crap and its not true unless you have parallels which is also a bunch of crap and that doesn't work either - very well. I am not happy with this setup.

Using the DVD is the only supported method.

1. If the ISO image is not found, it could be as simple as incorrect location.
2. You can burn a DVD using
Disk Utility (Yosemite): Burn a disk image to a CD or DVD
OS X El Capitan: Burn CDs and DVDs
3. There is no need for Parallels.
4. If you are unhappy with the setup, Windows will only make it worse.

I have burned three DVDs - ruining each of them each time. Each time the ISO file was burned directly. Disk Utility does not show me any options to burn, when I select new image - it doesn't allow me to choose any particular file - so I choose the DVD "Untitled" and add the Iso manually. This is absolutely absurd. Each time I start the install bootcamp still can't find the file... it doesn't work. I am not so happy.

They sure don't make it easy as they make it sound. I am a geek and I can't figure this out.

Can you post the name of the file and the MD5sum? Verbatim, Sony and Memorex brands work very well, while I have had issues with TDK, NoName, etc..

I opened the disk image and now am trying to burn that with each file represented. I have had zero luck trying to burn the ISO image with disk utility. OS is El Capitan. The disk Utility with this version is not as easy as previous versions.

I have been able to do that. But when I go to bootcamp the bootcamp program says it can't find the disk image to install. I believe bootcamp is seriously flawed in not letting you choose to use a USB drive - they are certainly ok with that to use a place to put the windows updates.

They sure don't make it easy.

2. In OSX Finder, after you burn the disk, is Automatic Mounting of the DVD enabled?

Going to try this method now outside of disk utility - I have been getting 0x80020063 error after burning last 5 disks
