Q: How can I force the app to download everything locally?

Hi guys

So I've moved back to iTunes from Google Play.

First of all I am deleting all of my 'local' music I ripped from CD many moons ago because iTunes has completely ruined the album quality and versions of my songs.

I'm deleting the local and re-downloading the album from the Apple iTunes Music.

It's working well, but these are not automatically downloading locally to my iPhone library for offline listening.

How can I download all of these at once? Without going through every single song manually, as this will be my entire library?

Can I create a play list and download that?

Any help will be appreciated.

    Hello tom_hills,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If I understand your post correctly you are trying to download your previous iTunes purchases.  To do this please follow the steps below.

Download previous iTunes Store purchases to an authorized computer

    1. Click your name to the left of the Search field and choose Purchased. If you don’t see your name, click Sign In.

The Account menu, with Purchased chosen

    2. In the page that appears, select a category.

iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download.

If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading.

To search for an item, type its name or a keyword in the search field, and then press the Return key to view your search results.

    3. To download an item, click its Download button Cloud with an arrow pointing down

To download all available items, click Download All.

iTunes 12 for Windows: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store

    Take care.

    Hi

Alex this is not related to iTunes purchases, sorry.

This is music created in the Apple Music streaming service, sorry.

I want to bulk download everything onto my iPhone for offline listening on the Apple Music service.

    Cheers,

Thanks for the clarification.  While there's no magical download all button, you do have the opportunity to mark entire artists, albums, and playlists available for offline listening:

Download songs, albums, and playlists to listen to offline

You can download songs, albums, or playlists to your device so that you can listen to them when you're not connected to the Internet.* You must download songs, albums, or playlists on each device that you want to use for offline listening.

*You can download music on up to 10 devices. These songs are accessible only during your Apple Music membership.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    1. In the Music app, find the song, album, or playlist that you want to add.
    2. Tap the More Options icon   to the right of the song or album name.
    3. Tap   to add the song, album, or playlist to My Music.

Songs and albums appear under My Music > Library. Playlists appear under My Music > Playlists.

Add music from the Apple Music catalog to your library on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC

    Take care.

    Hey Alex

Thanks for this. I have found this but it is a bit painful going through them manually..

I've reverted to creating a playlist and just downloading the entire playlist. It seems to do the trick and doesn't throw me any duplicates.

Something else that is highly irritating me. I add an album to my library and three songs out of 11 appear. Yet the entire album downloads on my phone but not in my Music library on my laptop? Getting frustrated with that..

    Cheers
