Q: iPod Classic Gen 7 got wet !!!

I got it completely wet last Monday. And the worst thing is I left it about 10 minutes until I found out. I quickly put it in a rice bow. I left it overnight and the next day, I checked it and it seemed ok. The battery was fine, the screen was fine. I still can listen to the music. Everything was fine until yesterday. When I plugged my iPod into my Mac, the computer didn't recognize it although the iPod showed :"Connected". Today, I did it again, and I can see the iPod icon on the screen of my computer. However, when ever I tried to click on it, my computer went freeze and I have to force quite the Finder. Also, I couldn't open the iTunes whenever the iPod was plugged. And there was a board with a RED X show this : "You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can.". I don't know what to do now and I really need you guys help. Is my iPod completely trash now or there is still a way to fix it ? Please help me cause I don't want to lose it. It's a special gift from my Dad. Please help me !

You need to take it to your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider and have it looked at. Sounds like it has been damaged by the water, but someone needs to look at it to determine the extent of the damage.

I also wonder if this has something to do with the upgrade of my macbook air : EL CAPTAIN. I upgraded it last Wednesday. Even my iPhone has trouble connecting to the Macbook. It keeps turning on and off. Anyone ?

No it does not have anything to do with the OS X you are running on your Mac. The device got wet. The water damage had caused the issues.

Okay, so today I went to a Apple Authorized Service Provider to have them check my iPod. So sad that they said they couldn't fix my iPod and there's no way to fix it. The only solution is.....Buy a new one. Well, guess I have to start saving money from now.

Take my situation as an experience. Please be careful with these electric stuff. You don't want to be like me, do you ? Haiz, today seems a bad day to me. Thanks "gail from maine" for telling what to do. Have a nice day !

You might want to call Apple and find out if your device could be replaced for an Out of Warranty fee:

iPod Service Answer Center - Apple Support

Click on "See Apple Repair Pricing" to see what the Out of Warranty fee would be. If your device qualifies, it is a lot cheaper than buying a new one.

    Best of luck,
