I had an iPhone 4 which I put away when I upgraded to iPhone 6s.
My daughter had then loaned it to a friend while he was waiting for his new phone to arrive.
He had set up an iCloud email and Apple ID for the phone and set up find my iPhone on it, when he had finished with it gave it back to my daughter to put in the drawer with deleting anything of his.
I had an accident which damaged my iPhone 6s so I wanted to use my iPhone 4 while I save for the repair.
It is however linked to my daughters friend who cannot remember his password.
When he tried to reset his password it would not recognise any of his details he could only request an email to reset his password but it says it will send it to his iCloud.com email address which is the one he cannot access, I thought the recovery email had to be a different address but it does say it is sending it to his iCloud email and he swears he does not have another icloud email.
I have reset/ restored the iPhone but when I try to start it up again it wants me to disconnect him, how do I get round this?
Hey iseavaily,
Oh no! I'm very sorry you found yourself in a situation like this. Rest assured it's my personal goal to help you resolve this issue together. It seems like to me you're receiving an iCloud activation lock message. I understand you guys have attempted to access his iCloud account but you were unsuccessful even after attempts to reset the password, and if I'm the correct the Apple ID as well. If I were in a situation like yours and we weren't able to access the iCloud account associated with the device I too would be frustrated. At this point you'll be better off contacting Apple for support. To contact Apple, please visit this knowledgebase article from Apple: Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support.
I very so do hope you guys are able to get back on your iPhone and running in no time to be able to use it again. But just as a reminder, (If I'm correct) you're waiting for your iPhone to be repaired (maybe like at an Apple Store) don't hesitate to call them and see when your iPhone will be done with it's repair. And if it seems like the repair date is just a few days, you'll be able to get your iPhone 6s in a jiffy!
