Q: Airprint problems.  Brother printer, brother print and scan finds the printer on the net work.  All other APS say no printers found?

Brother printer mfc-f4510dw, DLink ...-655' assorted apple i products.  All I stuff connected to network.  Printer connected to network,  prints from win-7 dell laptop.  When using brother iscan/iprint the printer can be found an I can scan or print.  All other apps can't find the printer.  Back ground.  Everything worked for years but the DLink quit so I replaces it with the same model used the same pass code but.

    Hi

i just found a solution after a lot of failed trials

ipv6 should be enabled on the printer setup

you can access the printer setup by typing its IP address on your webbrowser

    For me

    http://192.168.0.36/net/wireless/ipv6.html

I  tried everything before that (firmware / Dns / dhcp / ip /...)

Nothing worked until I enabled the ipv6

    was getting very frustrated

hopefully it works for you too

Thanks so much...this worked for me!  I used it on a Dell E310dw

    Oh Brother where art thou???

I recently purchased a Brother DCP-L2520DW on Black Friday and was excited to have a 3-in-1 wireless laser printer at a super price that works with AirPrint.  However, as stated in previous posts it only works when the printer has recently been power cycled or is active/and awake.

The printer has the latest firmware, so I followed your suggestion and enabled IPV6 as it's disabled by default.  BAM!  It worked.  Thanks!

    Thanks for this discussion!

New Brother HL-L2340DW laser printer.  Installed on home wireless network.  Using iMac with latest OS:  El Capitan 10.11.2.

Worked well; printed from iMac wirelessly immediately after setup, but once some time passed and printer went to "Deep Sleep" mode, when trying to print, iMac would say "Printer offline" or "Printer not connected to network".  Tried updating firmware, re-installing printer on wireless network, checked all System Preferences/Printers on iMac.  Nothing worked.  Could not print from desktop via wireless network.   Wife using Windows desktop could print perfectly every time using same home wireless network.

Called Brother support and spent 45 minutes on phone with them.  They uninstalled and re-installed printer on network (which I had done at least twice previously).  Was able to print test page after that, but did not fix "Deep Sleep" problem.

SO...checked again for firmware updates and there WAS one (even through I had updated less than 10 days ago).

Then, enabled IPV6 as described in this thread.

Let printer go to "Deep Sleep" and then tried to print; IT WORKS!!    ...so far, I should add.  I have learned not to get too excited when it comes to IT/computer issues; may stop working tonight, but so far, grateful for this fix after no help at all from Brother support.

Can't believe Brother can't work with Apple to make printer work with Apple devices.  Brother support person said he was not allowed to give advice on Mac settings or troubleshoot interface between Mac computer and Brother printer.  He could only give advice on Brother printer and print test page, etc. to confirm printer could print.  Disappointed in Brother and their support, but happy to have a printer I can now use.

I agree.  I bought a Brother DCP-L2540DW and immediately encountered the problem using AirPrint that so many others have documented. The solution was updating Brother's driver and enabling IPv6.  I used my browser and the printer's IP address to access the unit's configuration utility. The firmware update option (ver. K to ver. L for the DCP-L2540DW) is found in the left column of the Administrator tab and the IPv6 option is in the left column of the Network/Wired tab.

I also had trouble connecting the DCP-L2540DW to an ASUS laptop over WiFi. Brother's NetworkRepairTool resolved the issue by assigned a static IP address to the unit. I did the same when I installed the DCP-L2540DW with AirPrint on my MacBook Air.  Of course, this didn't keep the Brother from going offline.

Thanks to everyone for their help with this problem. I had run out of ideas when I found this support community.

Well. what works for me when i face the problem is that i open an iBooks document and select print, then i cancel the request and now i can AirPrint from all other applications, so it might be an Apple problem afterall.

Many thanks. This was such a frustrating problem and enabling the ipv6 on wireless did the trick.

I just enabled ipv6 on my printer as well (have the DCP-L2540DW) and that appears to have done the trick! Now if I could just get my group iMessages working...

Thank You!!  This seems to work for me.  I have been trying to fix my printing problems.  I have a Brother DCP-L2540DW printer and have been issues trying to print from my MacBook and iPhone after the printer went into sleep mode. This has seemed to resolve the issue.

I was able to access this screen through the Brother app for my printer (installed on my iMac when installing the printer). From there I clicked on the settings gear, and then clicked the "show printer webpage..." button on the popup. From there, select the Network tab at the top > wireless section/button at the top > IPv6 (Wireless) on the left-hand side.
