I have seen this report where AT&T store saves from Motorola to USB drive (bring your own or buy one there) then jump through a few more hoops.

I don't want to store the numbers, just get a couple of numbers to write down..that's it.

Ferd provided you with the link on how to do that. But, here's the short version:
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Import SIM Contacts
