IT cuts t black and does a slow split wipe. I'm pretty sure you can find that transition in FCP.

I do not see a transition that works exactly like that. It would not be too hard to create one in Motion, but this can just as easily be created directly in FCP X by keyframing the crop parameters of the clip.

Add a little black before (either a black generator, or if there is nothing below, just a gap, which will appear as black in the output in most cases).

    1) Select the clip where you want this to happen. Select the Crop tool and make sure that the first option, Trim, is active. It is easier to manipulate the values directly in the Inspector.

    2) Move to where you want the clip to be fully visible, and add keyframes to Top and Bottom by pressing the "+" buttons. Do not change their values, let them stay at zero.

    3) Move to the very first frame of the clip, and in the Inspector change the values for Top and Bottom so they are both equal to half the frame height (in the example the project is 1080p, so I set the top and bottom to be 540). You don't need to add keyframes there, FCP X does it automatically.

Center Wipe rotated vertical, no feathering.

Oh my god you guys are life savers!! So do I have to do Luis's suggestions and then implement the Center Swipe? or I can I just use the center swipe? I got it to do the cinematic opening I wanted with just using center swipe, but I couldn't figure out how to make the opening with the black bars being apparent. Thanks a million!!
