Aug 26, 2006 3:31 PM in response to Stacy Bryantby David Stopher,If you using the apple AV cable then the red yellow and white cables end are correctly wired. If you use a third party cable the colour coding may not be as you would normally expect. You will need to shuffle them around until you get the right permutation.
You might also check that the volume is turned up on the iPod and the TV (just in case)!!! -
Aug 28, 2006 10:57 PM in response to David Stopherby Randall Schulz,David,
Think a moment about what you’re saying, ’cause it’s not logical.
The OP said video was getting through OK—that implies that the video plug was connected to the proper socket on the TV / VCR. That means the only possible connector mix-up between the remaining (2) connectors are the left vs. right audio channels, which would still leave audio getting through OK.
Furthermore, I believe the convention (red / right; white / left; yellow video) are well established in the AV industry.
Lastly, I have the same problem with my 5G 60 GB.
Actually, I can get audio from music, but only at greatly reduced volume. But from the video even when I crank both the iPod and the VCR volume up to max, there’s not a whisper. (By the way, the audio is fine through the headphones when viewing the video on the iPod itself.)

Sep 7, 2006 11:24 AM in response to Stacy Bryantby Sunfellow,I'm also having serious audio problems with my 60GB Video iPod. Using Apple's RCA cable, I connect the iPod to my TV. The video plays fine, but the audio plays at greatly reduced, nearly inaudible levels. This happens on all the videos that are stored on my iPod, including television shows, music videos, interviews, etc. The same for all my music. The volume on the iPod is turned up full blast, as is the volume on the TV, but the audio that comes out is very low. Something is definitely wrong.
Another problem is that my photos won't show up on the TV.

Sep 9, 2006 4:05 PM in response to Randall Schulzby Max Lai,David is absolutely right, before you go off on him. it has been documented in the past and it helped my bug fix; apparently apple has told people they need to by their proprietary av cable and that 3rd party cables will not work, check on the website. however, if you are trying to use a 3rd party cable you do need to mix it up, that is the only difference between their av cable. and the 3rd party.
as far as what is logical and your particular bug fix, i found that i had to revert my ipod system software to a previous one. I don't have mine on me but when i get to it i will check which system and post it, keep a lookout. -
Sep 9, 2006 4:08 PM in response to Randall Schulzby Max Lai,check further down this thread, this should be your solution. muxed video files won't work on the ipod with sound. you need to convert the video file using something like videora or other software. this will solve your problem.
