Q: iPhone 6s Plus won't turn on

Ever since I updated to 9.3.1, my iPhone 6s Plus turns off every night when it is plugged in to charge. I have to hold down the power and home button each morning to get the phone to turn on. Well, this morning I go to turn my phone on and the phone will not turn on. I tried every trick in the book and still no response. I chatted with Apple Support (waste of time) and they tried to schedule me for tomorrow. I use my phone for work and cannot go 24+ hours without communication. Anyone else experienced this? My husband has a 6 Plus and doesn't have any issues. PLEASE HELP!

Looks like there may be some hardware damage if it took holding the off/on and home buttons to turn it on every morning

For software issues - here are the recommended steps but it looks like you may be looking at a trip to the Apple store

If it is hardware there is very little you can do. Unfortunately you didn't take needing to use special start ups as a sign something was going wrong to schedule an appointment at a more convenient time.  It's a bit like ignoring a leak under a car until you go on a big road trip and then discover your brakes won't work on a steep hill.

I am afraid so. It couldn't have happened at a worse time- I have company in town that arrived last night and we had plans today. Hopefully the store can squeeze me in and take care if it quickly. The phone functioned fine outside of the weird charging thing. It has never been dropped or touched any water so I am really at a loss as to what happened.

Your phone may well be defective and you may have to go to the store to resolve. If you don't want to wait until tomorrow you can try Recovery Mode, little to lose. If that does not work, hardware is likely the issue.

    Recovery Mode:

    Turn off your iPhone.

Connect the phone charging cable to the computer only (not to the iPhone yet).

    Open iTunes on your computer.

Press and hold the power button on your phone and don’t let go.

Connect the cable to the phone while keeping the power button pressed down.

Wait until the computer detects the phone and wait for it to restore.

Restore as New first and then restore from backup(s) if desired.

Sorry that you are facing the issue at an inconvenient moment

Superb as Apple products are - I suppose the only thing I can say is that the law of averages does catch up from time to time

Not as frequently as with some other products but not never either

All the best and please let us know how things turn out with your iGadget
