Q: apple tv echoes at end of movie

Apple TV sound begin to echo toward the end of a movie playing on the unit.

    Please confirm that you are using Apple TV 2, and you have just noticed this phenomenon.

    How are you hearing the sound from ATV? TV speakers, optical ATV output to receiver or soundbar, bluetooth speakers?

    Sound from HDTV speakers

     

    Switched to other UHDTV in living room, the same condition is happening. Has to be the Apple TV unit causing the echo sounds.

    Your audio processing sounds simple, so no reason to suspect it.

    Restarting ATV won't help, since you restarted it when you moved it.

    Since it develops over time, it should not be a hardware problem.

    Is it really an echo (sounds heard twice) or a delay (sound out of sync)?

    What app are you using to play these movies? Is the problem limited to one app? You might search here for problems with that app and ATV 2. Since ATV software is no longer being updated, it might be that the app is no longer compatible with the data from the provider.

    Since this is ATV 2, your only option may be to restore the ATV software. See Restore your Apple TV to its factory settings - Apple Support and use the Restore option, not Reset. This is a large download, so be prepared to wait a while. That page also has a link to restoring using a computer connection.

    If your ATV audio output is not set to Stereo, you could try that and see if it helps the echo problem.
