Q: Red LED on Logic Board.

Hello Guys,

I bought a broken Power Mac G5 (first for casemodding) but now I want to repair it I don't want that the powermac will die. On the Logic Board this Red Led is shining red:

First, I tried to replace the battery on the Logic Board because I checked it the battery was empty. But still after I replaced the battery the led is still shining. Also, I can not hear any start sound. Maybe somebody else know how to fix this. I am very sorry for this engtlish but english is not my main language. The PowerMac should be a PowerMac7,3 with 2,0 GHz.

Nice chart: I thought it would be 2.5.8 as 2.6.3 was only made for the quad I believe( and it never booted the Os tests correctly only the Of tests). Noim that confirms my suggestion. Good luck finding it. It should be doable. I have one and I bet BdAqua has one too. Specifically, once you have you can first run the whole battery of 58 odd tests on the machine but I think when you attempt to to do a thermal recalibration it will spit out a telling reason why it can't.

Did you run all 57 odd tests or just the one on CPU/s. The reason I ask is that there are various fans in the testing. The only other thing I can say is that you can set that test to loop for 24 hours. G5 machines are notoriously cantankerous. I am fighting my own battle now with one(but even more complicated as it is water cooled.) . Set it to run in continuous loops. It may throw an error after multiple tests or it may not. I would guess that if a service technician ran into this back in the day and came back in the next day to no errors he would just replace the processor with a new one. If that worked give it back. If not put a new logic board in it. Once warranty was up he would tell people killer prices to fix it and most people walked away.  I forgot to ask if you ever manually reset the nvram by physically pushing the little button on the logic board down by the battery for 3 seconds and then rebooting it did I?
