Q: Please teach me how to assign keyboard shortcuts via terminal.

I want to assign the F4 or F5 function keys to dashboard or replace launchpad since it seems redunrant to me.

I need to fix my Mac to be the way I want it so I need to learn this. Every version of OS X has whittled down the UI elements to fewer less customizable configurations and I cannot run my software on 10.6.8 anymore

Mac Pro (Early 2008), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Give an example of something that you cannot accomplish.

I use keyboard maestro to assign function keys to apps.

You can assign to Dashboard in ->System Preferences->Mission Control

Launchpad hotkey is set in ->System Preferences->Keyboard->[Shortcuts]->Launchpad & Dock
