You don't need additional memory quite yet.  You have installed what around here is considered malware - CleanMyMac3. Uninstall it according to the developer's instructions: How to Uninstall CleanMyMac 3. Knowledge Base - MacPaw

Never run any "cleaning" or "optimizing" apps on your Mac.  The are not needed. Also anti-virus software are a waste of money as there are no known viruses for Macs and they do a terrible job at finding adware and malware because the are not designed for that.

You can check to see if you've removed all of the files by downloading and running Find Any File to search for any files with the application's name  and the developer's name in the file name.  For example for CleanMyMac you'd do two searches:

    1 - Name contains cleanmymac

    2 - Name contains macpaw

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

Reboot and check for any improvement. Launch Activity Monitor and click on the Memory button.  Run for a while and check the memory pressure graph.  As long as it stays uniform and in the green you should be OK.

    AMmempressure.jpg

However, if you feel you need additional RAM get it from either Crucial.com or otherworldcomputing.com.  Those are the only two vendors I feel comfortable ordering from as they guarantee that their modules will work with you model and have excellent warranties and customer support.

VTEncoderXPCProcess is related to Videos in Photos.app.

How much available hard drive space do you have on your Mac? (anything less than 10GBs is not ideal)

Is it only Photos presenting you the spinning color wheel? Or other functions/apps on the Mac?

Run Disk Utility to see if any hard drive reports are reported

Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks - Apple Support

I'd start there and see what you have first.

Did you run Clean My Mac ad let it clean your Photos Library?  Then Photos will be slow because it needs to recreate the cached files that CleanMy Mac removed. Ifyou allowe CleanMyMAc to run on your Photos Library, consider to restore the  Photos library from your TimeMachine backup. CleanMy Mac will have removed all original image files of the photos you edited and replaced them by the previews of the edited versions, so you have lost your high quality originals.
