From your post, it sounds like you have an iPod touch (5th generation) that will not show anything on the display other than a small white line. If this is correct, I suggest reading over and working through the suggested steps from the following article. We know these situations can be frustrating, but we’re here to help.
If you see lines, missing sections, discoloration, or poor image quality
- Try to restart your device. If you can't restart, force restart your device.
- If this doesn't work, restore your device.
- If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.
