Q: External hard drive not shown up in disk utility_EI capitan

I have discussed with Apple technic support for several times. My problem:

(1) A working 2TB external hard drive is working fine in windows, old Mac(2012); just showed up in new Mac EI capitan for the first month;

(2) Never showed up in DISK UTILITY;

(3) "Command + Option + P + R"  does not work.

It looks like APPLE deny this defect of their product.  This is completely a waste of money.

I want refund! Please.

    Were not apple, and any issue you are having with a 3rd party device on your Apple HW is not going to be covered by a refund by Apple

    Read the EULA, go to section O. If you want a refund speak to the manufacture of the drive.

    If the drive required 3rd party utilities remove them, any 3rd party utility needed by the drive to operate inside the OS is not recommend.

    open terminal

    type

    diskutili list

    expand the window

    take a screen shot

    post it here.

    When you reply others' post:

    1. Please read the post at first.

    2. Please note. I have mentioned in my post:

    The external hard drive is working perfectly fine in PC and old Mac.  In EI Capitan, it does not show up even in DISK UTILITY.

    3. PLEASE search this topic on Google : external hard drive not showing up mac EI capitan

    I am not the only one having this problem.

    4 If you are on behalf of APPLE product, PLEASE be honest to your customers.

    If you want to speak with APPLE go here.

    I am not "on behalf of Apple product", no one here is.

    I did read your post and you apparently glossed over the part where I asked you to try going to terminal to determine if the Macintosh system sees the drive on some level, not the GUI Disk Utility application which you started had already used in the OP.

    My self and others here have external hard drives from different manufacturers connected to mac running 10.11 and they appear to work. If Apple universally broke 10.11s ability to use external drives everyone would have the same problem, and the number of reports to this would be closer to the number of users with these setups, that does not appear to be the case. The reports like yours are sporadic and can often be traced back to a number of things outside 10.11. It works on the other mac, are these two machines identical in every way? The problem is the drive you own is having an issue that needs to be determined. If you think Apple should be the ones to fix it use the link I provided at the top.

    Hi there, the issue has been resolved it was a problem with my Belkin USB hub. We replaced it with a new one and all the external drives are showing up now. Thank you. Best Deepa
