Q: Lost all my contacts for no reason???
Hi I have not updated my phone, woke up this morning and all my contacts were missing?
I backed up to a time in OCT 2015 and had them back momentarily and now they are gone again?
My husband and myself both have iphone 6plus, and we used the same apple id for both phones, hubby lost his phone and I reported to apple lost phone with the serial numbers etc.
Cancelled the sim card and access to phone with our service provider.
Could this be why I have lost my contacts? or is this coincidental?
I have tried to the fixes for the apple turning off contacts and turning back in the settings and under iCloud still does not work.
How can I get my contacts list back, there are many personal and business contacts I had I cannot afford to lose.
Please help.

I take it you had no iTunes backup - if you did - a restore from there would restore your data
Also have you tried to log into https://www.icloud.com and check for contacts in the website? If they are not there then chances are that they are lost
The connection with the lost phone is intriguing - if the phone still shows up in iCloud - then it has possibly not been broken into
If it does not - then either it cannot get to the internet or has been successfully broken into (very unlikely for an iPhone protected with a passcode and Apple ID credentials)
Try this step - Turn the sync with iCloud OFF in Settings - iCloud - Contacts
Sign out of iCloud on your phone
Do not sign back in just yet
Force restart it
See if the contact files show up - slim chance but worth a try
Once you have checked - you can sign back into iCloud
