Q: recommended ssd for mac pro mid 2010?

hi everybody

i'm planning to upgrade the ssd drive in my mac..i've bought a used one and the guy had installed an 120gb ssd..

i found the SAMSUNG MZ-7KE512BW 850 PRO SERIES 512GB 2.5'' SATA3 at at decent price but i don't know if there is going to be any compatibility issue..

does anybody installed a 512 GB ssd to a similar mac as mine?

any recommendations for similar capacity ssd's?

i cannot even find which motherboard is installed in my mac..any help?

thanks in advance

A few users have reported problems with the 850 Pro.

Why did you ask what motherboard is installed? It is an Apple designed motherboard.

All of the Mac Pro desktops only have SATAII/3 GB/sec ports so the fast speed of the 850 will not be realized.

hello lllaass and thanks a lot for your response..

sorry i'm a noob to mac..

my pc's hard disk report a serious problem and i got very anxious about it..

my thought was to change immediately the ssd of my mac so i can use it to my pc and then replace my mac's ssd with a new and faster one so i can get back to work..

i didn't check system report to find out which motherboard is installed, only the specs that did not mention the motherboard..

do you have any recommendations about a reliable ssd at the same gbs?? many people told me that samsung are very good and reliable instead of kingstons or lacies etc..

You could fit the Samsung drive to a PCIe adapter which would give you SATA III speed i.e. double the speed of the internal drive bay.
