May 2, 2016 7:25 PM in response to Neystakby Sappy187,Ive had this freezing problem for months now, usually in safari it stops working. Trackpad goes out (no forcetouch), complete system freeze... even if you close the lid, the screen stays on. Keep in mind its the 2015 retina mbp. I went to the apple store to speak to a genius and they preformed a clean install of 10.11.4. Got home, finished "setting up my mac" pages, went so safari and boom it freezed again. What gives? I have a 600$ laptop that never freezes. Im going to apple tomorrow to see what they can do. The genius told me that they will take my laptop for 3-5 days to preform more diagnostics.. as if that will help. These are probably faulty chips that need to be replaced ASAP. Apple needs to get their act together.

May 2, 2016 11:31 PM in response to Sappy187by Edmundostudios,I Have spoken with an Apple representative that confirmed this issue on their own MacBook Pro. You can revert back to Yosemite this will make your system stable again. The problem is 11.10.4 has software issues on some macs but Apple have not officially confirmed it.

May 3, 2016 3:30 AM in response to Edmundostudiosby la_manzana,It’s now nearly two weeks since I roll back to 10.11.3 and my Mac had not an single freeze!
I know that is no positive proof but at least an indication that something is wrong with 10.11.4 on some Macs.
If I read carefully through this tread I think there are different issues mixed that have only one in common a kind of freeze of the operating system. Some issues maybe related due to hardware problems (e.g. freezes since Yosemite ?) but for a larger group the problems just start with 10.11.4 and happen mostly while watching videos with Safari.
Since there are also some people using 10.11.4 that claims to have no problem at all it could be related to the different hardware of the Mac’s. Maybe an issue with chipset drivers (for Haswell, Brodwell, etc.) or the graphic driver (AMD, Nvidia, Intel or a combination of two of them) or the memory management (different memory size, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB…) or what ever?
We should start to classify the hardware in more detail to see if there is something in common?
Here is mine:
Model: MacBookAir7,1
Model: MacBookAir7,1
CPU: Intel Core i7 with 2,2 GHz
RAM: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphic: Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB
Issue: Freezes with 10.11.4 no more freezes with 10.11.3

May 3, 2016 4:50 AM in response to Neystakby planospeedo,Hi there,
Got the same issue with Safari freezing since 10.11.4. Happens sporadically when watching Netflix, listening to music on Youtube, Soundcloud, etc. Only hard restart helps as even the trackpad doesn't work anymore then.
My specs:
MacBookPro12,1
Intel Core i5 2,7 GHz
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 RAM
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

May 3, 2016 5:12 AM in response to la_manzanaby Edmundostudios,I would recommend using Chrome because Safari seems to tigger the freezing.
Trackpad locks up as well and interface freezes.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
I would also recommend visiting this forum post it has gained a lot of traction on the same problem.

May 3, 2016 5:16 AM in response to Neystakby Jack Gajewski,I experience the same problem with 10.11.4 on a new iMac - most recently when waking the iMac from overnight "sleep" and attempting to use Safari (typically first). Occurs regularly, but thus far only after an "overnight sleep" session.

May 4, 2016 6:40 AM in response to Jack Gajewskiby dick the flick,This is absolutely identical to my problem. The fact that Apple are not resolving this or admitting it's an issue is very poor.
But then the company has fallen on hard times ... they made a couple of $ billion short of their usual $ Kzillion ;-)
Seriously though ... this is very clearly a known problem for many many users ... wouldn't it be mature for them to own up & admit this issue exists?
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 - 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 - Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
RUNNING OSX 11.4
HAS ANYONE HAD ANY HELP FROM APPLE ABOUT THIS YET? IS THERE ANYBODY IN APPLE?

May 4, 2016 7:49 AM in response to Neystakby Sappy187,Everyone here seems to have the same problem. Safari, mbp retina 2015, 10.11.4, i would like to add that i had never experienced this problem when i first got my mac back in september 2015. I dont remember which update but it was a lengthy one, the freezing started the same night I updated. We need to keep this thread alive if apple is going to do anything about this silly issue.

May 4, 2016 9:42 AM in response to Sappy187by Jonnyakamu,Actually I told apple about the thread and they said they don't read these. so its not doing anything but helping each other.

May 5, 2016 5:15 AM in response to dick the flickby Dod60,Ok here’s what I’ve found. The Core Service ‘disnoted’ is causing the problem for me. It hogs all the processes power and everything else hangs. Couldn’t work out why it was random but discovered Time Machine sets it off (not every time though) and I had time machine running in the background, it does hourly backups. I’ve put Time Machine off and just do a manual back up at night. I keep Activity Monitor open all the time with the ‘user’ process ‘distnoted’ highlighted and the inspector window open. When I do the backup if ‘distnoted’ kicks off (doesn’t always show on Activity Monitor) I hit the ‘Quit’ then ‘Force Quit’ on the inspector window. This kills ‘distnoted’ then it re-launches and everything goes back to normal. I also shut the iMac down at night, used to always leave it on. So far this has worked for me and hopefully until Apple get a fix.

May 5, 2016 5:37 AM in response to Dod60by dick the flick,Hi Dod60 ... that sounds like a serious piece of detective work! I'm a composer and use a Big Mac Pro in the studio which has Time Machine sitting in the background the whole time. However my Freeze issue is with my MacPro 2015 13 inch Retina where I'm really lazy with Time Machine and usually remember to plug it in around once every fortnight! I'm having freeze problems when I'm out and about - so not running Time Machine ... therefore I can't initiate the problem in the way you do.
As far as I've researched on Support Forums there do seem to be a large percentage of people (on many threads) all talking about this issue specifically using 13 inch MacBook Pro 2015 Retina laptops ... not to say that this isn't happening elsewhere ... just that there seem to be a particularly huge number using OSX 11.4 with that specific model.

May 5, 2016 6:16 AM in response to dick the flickby Dod60,Hi dick the flick, there’s no doubt this is an Apple software problem and is effecting many people in different ways. If this continues to work for me then I’m going to sit on 10.11.4 until I’m 100% sure the next update has a fix, as at least for me it’s managable. The next update might not be!
