Q: Create two partitions in external hdd with different format

Hi people

Is it possible to create two partitions equal size on a single external hdd lenovo 1tb. The first partition i would format into HFS+ for Time Machine purposes and backup. While another partition formatted into FAT32 for copy/paste files over Mac and PC.

If its possible,is there any mac app to do so?

Or should i just buy a 250gb ext hdd for Time Machine and a separate 500gb ext hdd for files storage accessible on Mac/PC?

And one more, what is the minimum size requirement for Time Machines use?

Thanks in Advance

You can use Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility to partition and format the external drive. The suggested size for a Time Machine backup drive or partition is 2 - 4 times the amount of data you are backing up.

Creating a partition isn't hard. Restart with command - R held down and open Disk Utility.

Step 1 - select the top level of the external hard drive.

Step 2 - select the Partition tab.

Step 3 - grab the //// to slide the partition up to make room for a new partition.

Step 4 - select the vacant space and hit the + sign.

Step 5- Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and add a name.

Step 5a, click and select GUID.

    Then Apply.
