Q: iphone 5 gets apple logo but does not boot

My iphone 5 will not start/boot. The Apple logo on a black background appears but eventually the screen goes dark. The latest OS upgrade was not done because of it would not complete the upgrade process and I gave up. Any recommendations?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.3

Charge the battery for at least 30 minutes then force restart your iPhone.

Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

In addition, charge the iPhone using a wall plug as opposed to using a computer to charge the device.

Sometimes an iPhone will barely charge enough to boot, and then die immediately because it is drawing less power from a computer than it would from the wall.

    Try Recovery Mode:

    Turn off your iOS device.

Connect the device charging cable to the computer only (not to the device yet).

    Open iTunes on your computer.

Press and hold the power button on your device and don’t let go.

Connect the cable to the device while keeping the power button pressed down.

Wait until the computer detects the device and wait for it to restore.

Restore as New first and then restore from backup(s) if desired.
