Mar 28, 2016 7:40 PM in response to Pointebasicby Sumatoha,I have the same problem... Resets, restores, updates - didn't work. I changed rear camera - didn't work. I noticed that in the morning when the phone wasn't in use all night my camera works for about a minute or so and then goes black again. I put my phone in the fridge for 10 min and it's working... but not for long... My conclusion - something is heating up there. I didn't find out WHAT, yet. I hope it might help somebody in future investigation

Mar 28, 2016 8:11 PM in response to Pointebasicby Idiosyncratic Routine,Updated to iOS 9.3 (iPhone 6) 2 days ago. The main camera (not the selfie camera) almost instantly after updating showed only a black screen. Crap. I really - really wanted to take a picture of this fat squirrel I saw. But whatever. Then yesterday the flash/flashlight stopped working which is really super sad b/c now I walk into walls at night when I need to pee. Double crap. Today I had time so I restored it to a backup. No luck. Angry face. Try number two - Set up as new phone, no luck...kinda. It randomly worked for like 5 minutes (yay!), then froze and back to a black screen (crap). This is a little bit more than pretty annoying. The phone is in perfect shape; not even a year old.

Apr 3, 2016 9:55 AM in response to Pointebasicby evolross,Same thing happened to my sister's iPhone 5S. Upgraded to iOS 9.0.3 for (thought I was doing her a favor). Camera worked fine for a few hours and then the rear camera is now black and/or shows a still from the front camera. Warning symbol says phone needs to cool down for flash to work. Front camera still works.

Apr 7, 2016 12:24 AM in response to Pointebasicby Po_theads,Having the same issue, iPhone 6 16gb. Cosmetically the device is in superior condition, alas updating to 9.3.1 my camera is failing. 500+ people are having the same hardware failure? Apple are you really going to leave us all in the dark?
Resets, wipes, nothing is working! Apple please help!
Geniuses at the local Apple Store are saying hardware failure, I gladly tried to purchase a camera replacement, an hour goes by and the issue is still arising. Making FaceTime calls, when connected I can view the rear facing camera, every time.
How could the camera work for FaceTime calls but not ok the camera app?
Just four months over a year old the cameras are dead?
I upgraded from my 4s which I had well over three years, and had been much more weathered.
I almost dare say this is unacceptable customer service Apple.
Whats going on?

Apr 8, 2016 10:08 AM in response to Pointebasicby pnthny,I also get the same problem after updating my iOs to iOs 9! Rear camera isn't working. It displays a black screen and a window pops up saying that I can't use the flash because the phone needs to cool down Also, whenever I don't get that black screen if I'm using the rear cam, it freezes and can't click that shuter button

May 4, 2016 8:53 PM in response to Pointebasicby wilsonhk,My iphone 5c also get the same problem after update to iOS 9.3.1!!!
It seems that this problem is lasting for a long long time, but without any advice/comment from Apple.
What's going on??? Such a big company and No. 1 phone maker in the world, but with a ridiculous way to reply their customers.
How we can push Apple to directly face this problem which is created from their software?

May 18, 2016 3:18 PM in response to Pointebasicby sanderrrrrrrrrrrrrr,Its the 19th of may,
the post has been viewed over 120.000 times, we all have the very same problems all because of 1 update yet apples tries to blame our hardware, to make us buy new hardware so they can "fix" this problem. this is not going to happen this is ridicolous they broke my phone it's in perfect shape used my camera each day for 2 years and now i'm 1 month over my warranty and boom this happens.
I'm going to try to downgrade my phone to iOS 8 to see if that works because i'm so ****** right now at this billion dollar company.

May 24, 2016 1:33 AM in response to Pointebasicby David Bennett,Tried factory resetting the phone and that didn't do anything (apart from wasting my time) so as mentioned in this thread I turned low power mode on for 30 seconds then off again and held down the top and home buttons to restart and the camera seems to be working again... for how long who knows!
Edit: Not very long as it turns out! I suspect it has something to do with using the camera when the screens locked as that's what I did when it broke again. Fixed with the above solution though again.

May 28, 2016 12:43 PM in response to Pointebasicby hk24,I got this problem today. Tried resetting, factory resetting and what not but the problem is still there. I use iPhone 5 running on ios 9.3.2. I updated it 2 days after the official release of 9.3.2 and camera worked well till today morning. This is really frustrating and Apple should provide some concrete solution to this. Looks like its there game plan so that people should buy their latest iPhone but given the reputation of Apple this is big shame on this grt org. They should think abt their customers and provide the solution here instead of just saying that this is hardware issue.

Jun 1, 2016 2:50 AM in response to Pointebasicby sunpixie2000,I have the same problem with my iphone 5. I think i had the new update 9.3.2 since the day it came out, and only yesterday afternoon the camera stopped working. I first noticed it when i tried to use snapchat and then i seen the sign for overheating on my camera. I tried to recover my device, but it didn't work. Mainly because it automatically upgraded to ios 9.3.2. I really hope they fix this problem as soon as possible. They already did that with iPads.
